James Deane performed a euphoric solo dance and in a group with his PinOz dance Crew Jayden Rodrigues, Jeremy Santos and Daryl Morante and Cat Thompson.
They all came together, young and old, to shine the Light of Hope.
The Light of Hope event was a night of music and dance, bringing together people from all walks of life to celebrate and raise much needed funds for our heroes – the volunteer fire fighters who have been tirelessly battling uncontrolled wildfires across Australia.
The fires began in June 2019 and by the January 2020, the fires had burned an estimated 18.6 million hectares, destroying homes and affecting entire communities. Smoke from these fires had reached unhealthy levels in towns and majors cities including Sydney and Canberra.
Volunteer fire fighters have been risking their lives every day to protect people, save communities and homes and rescue animals.
On the Australia Day long weekend, the line-up of talented artists and dancers came together to entertain, raise funds and help bring the Light of Hope.
Presented by Tessabella & Co under PinOz organiser Winnie Lim and GPO Grand Australia supported by Quittin’ Time, El Dorado, Rice Academy Of Music, Health and Happiness, and Mit Records, the show featured high caliber talents including the aforesaid Filipino talents.
There were lovely vocal performances by Naomi Belet, Leona, Mys T, Pacific Islander act Pacific Diva as well as a vibrant and colourful Brazilian dance number.
The night ended with the audience dancing to the backdrop of DJ and saxophone duo Sax Beatz.
Sydneysiders and supportive fans came from all over to enjoy the night. 100% of proceeds from ticket sales went directly to the NSW Rural Fire Services and the funds from the raffle draw as well as extra donations raised at the event were given to WIRES Wildlife Rescue.
A total of $3,686 was raised for the Bush Fire Appeal. James Deane, who wowed the crowd with his dynamic Hip Hop dance performance said, “It’s so beautiful to see so many people coming together tonight to support such a great cause.”
Cat Thompson, who was born in Australia with Irish Filipino heritage, performed with her team of back up dancers and stated, “As a Filipino Australian I am honoured to be a part of an event that brings much needed joy.
Thank you to everyone who came to support. The funds raised will make a difference.”
The burning is far from over. The funds are needed to help those on the front lines of this national tragedy.
