Unforgettable SPH Valentines Party 2020 in the Netherlands for the Taal Volcano victims

A night extraordinary!

With spirits soaring high, hundreds of gorgeous ladies, striking men and even toddlers get together to enjoy and celebrate the day of the hearts during Samahang Pilipino sa Hollands’ (SPH) Valentines Day Party. Held last February 8 , 2020 at a Business Class FC Dordrecht , the evening was filled with a spectacular program for the party goers to enjoy.



The splendid arch of red intertwined balloons greeting the guests as they climb up the stairs insures a dramatic entrance. Once inside, the warm uplifting feeling that love is all around you is literally tangible. You feel and see ‘love’ as lots of red balloons and huge hearts decorated the entire hall.

Gorgeous ladies, with their beaming smiles are eager to rock the night away. Lovely faces of men, women and children all over the place.  Such an amazing sight ! Tonight is the night for giving , spreading and receiving love !





The stomping music is irresistible as DJ’s Paul and Hans were keeping up the momentum. No moment to waste, everybody is swinging , swaying, hiphopping, jumping, doing their thing as the night progresses. This is what disco is all about !

Highlighting this Valentine’s Party is traditional search for SPH Mr. and Ms. Valentine 2020 !

This year, we have turned the traditon into an electrifying glamorous pageant. Ravishing ladies in red signed up for this prestigious competition. Bewitching!



Choosing SPH Ms. Valentine 2020 among the more than 20 contestants is extremely arduous. A short fashion show of each contestant allows all the guests to have the chance to take a good look and choose their favorite lady in red. Then like any other beauty pageant, it was narrowed down to the top three finalists….and finally after the last scrutiny and tabulation of the results, the winner was proclaimed. Ms. Red Angel Polder, outgoing Ms. Valentine 2019, announced the new Ms. Valentine 2020 !

The winner of this years’ Ms. Valentine 2020 is Ms. Linda Terwal !!!



The hunt for Mr. Valentine 2020 is less tough as there were only three daring contestants. In the same way, guests were allowed to choose their favorite guy. Arnold Paco, former Mr. Valentine 2019 did the tabulation, and announced the winner.

Mr. Valentine 2020 is awarded to Mr. Hans vd Broek !!!



After the short pageant, the party continues with more vigor! Getting wild and  letting go is the theme of the night. Guys still with glasses in their hands hit the dance floor, the music is too tempting to pass. Everybody is dancing with everybody !!!

A Valentines Party for another good cause . The beneficiary of the nights shindig are our countrymen back in the Philippines whose lives were turned upside down as a result of the Taal Volcano eruption.

It was indeed a party extra ordinary ! A night packed with fun, disco and excitement.

Truly an unforgettable fund raising disco!

When Taal Volcano erupted last January 12, it reduced the rich and industrious Batangas into a land of rubble. Residents scrambling to evacuate with very little to nothing with them, running for their dear lives…children in their arms crying….elderly people trying hard to comprehend why this is all happening……for these people, the thought that the world has come to an end is a reality.

Although some were already back to their homes and have started picking up the pieces, hundreds of families does not have a home to go back to. These families, with their children and grandchildren are still staying in evacuation centers not knowing what tomorrow brings. Their lives were in a flash devastated ! They are now homeless, crops destroyed, everything they worked hard for all their lives are now gone, no means to feed their families…..they direly need any help they could get.

And that’s where Samahang Pilipino Sa Holland comes in……we will be there with a helping hand….to ease their misery in our simple way…..to let them know they are not alone in their struggle….. That’s the commitment of SPH – to help those in need.



Update 15-02-2020 : SPH contact in the Philippines, Mr. And Mrs. Vilma Doria have now purchased and packed goods for the evacuess at the Batangas Evacuation Center. They have directly communicated with the officials of the barangay and will personally distribute these relief supplies the day after. Each family will receive packs containing 5 different canned good (meatloaf, sardines etc etc), 1 big pack noodles (6 small packs inside), 2 kilos rice, 1 blanket, 2 towels, 3 tootbrushes, toothpaste, 2 bathing soap and long bar of laundry soap.

A powerful team of three, SPH is founded by  Annabella Verweerd, her daughter Harly Lopez and their best friend Rodel Chito dela Cruz.  An organization couldn’t get any better than that.

Samahang Pilipino Sa Holland would like to express their utmost thanks to all the beautiful people who suported, joined and partied with us, as well as all the generous donors who believes in the cause of SPH.  Special thanks to Mr. and Mrs. Dennis and Vilma Doria for doing the legwork in purchasing and distributing the goods for the evacuees in Batangas Evacuation Center.
