34TH PHOTOWORLD ASIA 2020 CONCLUDES WITH EVENTS HIGHLIGHTS

MANILA, Philippines – Looking back as the events unfolds during the holding of the 34th Photoworld Asia 2020, the Federation of Philippine Photographer’s Foundation, Inc. (FPPF) has added another feathers in its shoulders for embarking another year of outstanding accomplishment, thereby achieving its Foundation’s mission-vision.
The overwhelming success of the Photoworld Asia 2020, had posed a great challenge in its current leadership from the highest to the lowest ranking members working hand in hand with the Foundation and the Photoworld Manila Assessment Accreditation Center-(PMAC), under the stewardships of its President down to the Chairmanship of the FPPF Foundation, including the Chairmanship of the current Photoworld Asia 2020 and its respective working Committee members.
Under its effective charismatic and enthusiastic leadership - the FPPF has built a strong rapport and strong relationship bringing all together the total support and cooperation of the various photographic industry, sponsors, including the biggest leading camera photographic manufacturers and suppliers in the photographic business in the country.
This year’s overall theme of the PHOTOWORLD ASIA 2020 is “TRAVEL AND LIFESTYLE”.
PHOTOWORLD ASIA 2020 finally concluded last February 4 highlighted by two successful big events – the first part is the Photography Trade Show which showcased the latest in digital photographic technology, new trends, gadgets and the latest products both in video and photography which was successfully participated by leading camera manufacturers and photo suppliers in the country from January 30-February 4, 2020.
The second part was highlighted by the International Photographer’s Conference where invited seasoned and renowned foreign and Philippine professional photographer’s with their respective expertises shared their earnest experiences, styles and techniques among conference delegates composed of private individuals, NGOs, LGUs, OFWs, FPPF affiliated club member organizations/associations from the various parts of the Philippines, and foreign delegates coming from around the world held at the Asian Institute of Management (AIM) Convention Center in Makati last January 31, 2019 - Feb. 2, 2020.
A total of 15 selected foreign and Philippine speakers have been invited and shared their respective expertises in the fields of fine arts, filmmaking, videography, photojournalism, travel photography from Day 1 to Day 3 lectures held at the Asian Institute of Management (AIM) in Makati.
Among the Day 1 Speakers with discussed topics were: Prof. Edwin Suson -“Jumpstart Your Financial Future”, Alex Ruelo joined by Jason Magbanua -“Hybrid Photography”, Prof. Amos Manlangit- “A Blast From The Past: Peeking Into The Arts of Future” ,and Betty Lalana – “Wildside of Photography”. Day 2 Speakers: - Pepe Diokno – “Cinematography”. Sara Black – “Distilling A Person’s True Essence Into One Portrait” and Stuart Dee – “Creative Travel Photography”. Day 3 Speakers: - Cris Magsino – “Finding Your Passion In Photography”, Mike Sia – “Wedding and Lifestyle”, Rey Sta. Ana – “Creating Professional Quality Wild Life Images With Field-Tested Techniques”, Dariel and Cathy Quiogue – “Seeking Zen” and Edwin Tuyay – “My Life After Photojornalism”.
Another highlights of the of the Photoworld Asia 2020 is the scintillating Photographer’s Nght held at the Asian Institute of Management Convention Center in Makati to give due recognition to the winning individual photographers and camera clubs who participated in the Photoworld Cup Photo Contest for the year 2019.
FPPF affiliated camera clubs from the different parts of the country competes for the whole year monthly competition dubbed as “Photo World Cup”, with the different themes each month. At the end of the year all scores are tallied to declare the winners. The competition aims to discover the skills and talent of individual photographer-members of the 54 camera clubs and associations.
Award-winning photographs and creative works of FPPF affiliated camera clubs/associations have been displayed at the grand photography exhibition at Mossolimmi Lane at the Glorietta Mall Exhibition Hall from January 30-Feb. 4, 2020.
Here are the winners in the 2019 Photoworld Cup Top 10 Outstanding Photographers of the Year, who accumulated the most highest points during the year-round photo competitions: (1st) ) -Jundio Salvador-Samahan ng Litratista ng Rizal (SLR); (2nd )-Robo Formacion-Lucida Camera Club (LCC); 3RD - Darwin G. Gernale-Manila Avid Photographers Club (MAPC); 4TH - Ruben Castor Ranin – Lens Nation Photography Club (LPC); 5TH -David Lim – Prima Camera Club and Butch Toong-Photographers Club of Cebu (PCC); 6th - Reginald De Guia – Photographers Club of Cebu and Froi Rivera – Framed Shots Camera Club (FSCC); 7th – Gerry Dacumos – Prima Camera Club and Lemuel Ragasa-Samahan ng Litratista ng Rizal (SLR); 8th -Erwin Lim – Images Camera Club Cebu (ICCC); 9th -Aldrin Cuadra-Samahan ng mga Litratista ng Rizal (SLR) and 10th -Ryan Yu-Images Camera Club Cebu (ICCC).
The Top 10 Outstanding Camera Club of the Year winners for 2019 were: 1. Cebu City Images Camera Club (CCICC), 2. Samahan ng Litratista Sa Rizal (SLR), 3. Manila Avid Photographers Club (MAPC), 4. Photographer’s Club of Cebu (PCC), 5. Framed Shots Camera Club (FSCC), 6. Prima Camera Club (PCC), 7. Lens Nation Photography Club (LNPC), 8. Lucida Camera Club (LCC), 9. Konsepto Photo Club (KPC) AND 10. Photographer’s Club of Cebu (PCC).
Photo World Asia 2020 Chairman Engr. James Singlador is a multi-awarded photographer of the Samahang Litratista ng Rizal (SLR) camera club. Chairman Singlador successfully supervise and managed the smooth flow of functions of every PWA 2020 Working Committees down to its respective Committee Chairman and its members.He was the overall in-charge of all preparations for the activities at the photography and trade exhibits in Glorietta Ayala Malls. Singlador praised all camera club organizations and its members for the all-support under his stewardship, in making the entire event a total success, more specifically to all the winners in this year’s Photoworld Cup Annual Photo Competition.
FPPF Chairwoman Eduvegis Huang highly commend and recognized this year’s Chairmanship and its leadership of the 34th Edition of the Photoworld Asia 2020 spearheaded by Engr. James Singlador for the hard work and labor and its conglomerated efforts exerted by all the responsible working Committees involved in making the annual convention achieve its mission-vision. She also praised and thanked all the major participating sponsors, camera manufacturers and suppliers in the photographic business industry who have been continuously extending support to the Foundation. She also commended the FPPF Officers, Teaching and Secretariat Staff and the FPPF-PMAC for the smooth project implementation and coordination and for the job well done. Lastly, she had extended her humble salutations to the all the winners of the Photoworld Cup Photo Contest during the Photographer’s Night – to the Outstanding Photographers this year and Camera club winners who painstakingly achieved a perfect and presentable winning photos taken from around our picturesque landscapes within the various places of the country.
Photo World Asia is an annual event that has been going on since 1987 under the Federation of Philippine Photographers Foundation.The FPPF is a non-profit organization of photographers dedicated to the promotion of photography in the Philippines.
FPPF President and Photoworld Manila Assessment Center Manager Pablo Beltran has announced during the PWA2020 Conference that the Technical Education and Skills Authority (TESDA) had approved Photoworld Manila Assessment Center as a bonafide and official accredited Assessment Center for Photography NCII Accreditation. “We can now accept photographers who are planning to apply for jobs here or abroad. Government certification (NCII) is being required by employers.
To pass Photography NC II Examinations, the photographer must display competence in professional photography. He must know how to shoot with a professional-grade digital single-lens reflex (DSLR) or mirrorless camera and be competent in lighting and digital post-processing, among other core competencies. These skills are taught in PMAC workshops, namely, Comprehensive Digital Photography, Lighting Essentials, and the post-processing workshops for Lightroom and Photoshop, Beltran explained.
