The Philippine Independence Day Council (PIDC), have once again brings Miss Philippines and Little Miss Philippines PIDC 2019 pageant, its most prestigious beauty pageants in the community. On a hot summer day, a back to back successful event for PIDC is held on Saturday, July 6th at Rembrandt Banquet Halls in Scarborough, Ontario.
Congratulations to Stephanie Artuz, this year's Miss Philippines PIDC, as well as, the recipient of the Best in Talent and Best in National Costume Awards. Adrienne Tupas holds the 1st Runner-Up title plus she bags the trophies for Best in Casual Wear, Miss Photogenic, Miss Charity, and Miss Popularity. Rhyanna Estrada receives the 2nd Runner-Up title and Miss Congeniality Award.
Other Awardees are Beverly Vinluan , Miss Pearl of the Orient, while Kimberly Fernandes garners the Social Media and Miss Heritage distinctions.
Fittingly, the pageant's theme is about "Women Empowerment", which breaks down to a portion of the show on Social Awareness video presentation from each of the contestants. It is also the initial year celebrating the Filipino Heritage Month across Canada.
Contestants start off the program in a Casual Wear, Talent showcase, an Evening Gown and ends with the nerve-wrecking Q & A portion of the competition, picked from a glass bowl, each contestant answers the question with poise and ease impressing the panel of Judges namely, Gizele Mirasol, Mary Ann Gamboa, Leonor Abad-Poizner-reigning Mrs. Philippines PIDC 2019, Shalini Srivastava and Conida Marie Halley, Miss Philippines PIDC alumni. Len Salvador, Marietta Buentipo, Eve Cabanlit and Maria Antonio, have to ensure and maintain the integrity of the Pageant judging & scoring processes, comprise the Team of Professional Tabulators from (AFCA) - the Association of Filipino Canadian Accountants in Toronto.
Melanie Lazaro , Miss Philippines PIDC 2018, in her farewell walk, dons and relinquishes her crown to Stephanie Artuz , the new elated Miss Philippines PIDC 2019 Title holder.
Ably co-hosted by Scott Dion Brown, an actor, musician and award-winning filmmaker from Toronto and Celine Grey, Miss Philippines PIDC 2016 brought the rousing audience in awe with the presentation of five beautiful candidates and a pool of performers- mostly former PIDC Title holders, Elizabeth Mabb, Celine Grey, Samantha Gavin, Precious Hernandez, Ida Catipon and Melanie Lazaro, showcasing their talents.
The initial program of the day is the Little Miss Philippines PIDC 2019, starts with Shangelica Aludud and Melanie Lazaro singing the National Anthems to an attendance of enthusiastic audience which includes the family and friends of five young contestants.
What a way to open the show with a dance presentation playing the popular song, "Dancing Queen", a welcome remarks from Helen Lao, Chair, Little Miss Philippines PIDC 2019, and a greeting from Ben Corpuz, PIDC Executive Vice-President.
Co-hosts are Scott Dion Brown and Elizabeth Mabb, talented LMP performers are former PIDC Title holders, Emma Ticsay, Arielle Fernandez, Gabrielle Louise Anders, Samantha Gavin and Melanie Lazaro, gracing the event, as well as, bringing the house down.
Vying for the crown, sash and trophy, each contestant must compete in the following categories: Beauty and Poise, Talent portion, Best in Casual Wear and Best in Gown competitions.
The winners of the First Award are- Aiesha Janelle Osma Cunanan bags the Most Photogenic, Best in Talent, and Best in Casual Wear Awards while Nicole Brielle Cariaga receives Best in Gown and the Beauty & Poise distinctions.
The second Awards go to- Nicole Brielle Cariaga for the Little Miss Sunshine and Congeniality Awards, Raelyn Cristin Cajuigan for the Little Miss Heritage Award, Alexis Noelle C. Manego for Little Miss Charity Award, andJesselle Nicole Torres Jones for receiving the Little Miss Popularity Award.
Jesselle Nicole Torres Jones, Candidate No. 5, receives the Little Miss Philippines 2nd Runner-Up Title; Aiesha Janelle Osma Cunanan, Candidate No. 1, garners the Little Miss Philippines 1st Runner-Up Title and Alexis Noelle C. Manego, Candidate No. 4, wins the Little Miss Philippines PIDC 2019 Title. Congratulations to all the Winners!
Gabrielle Louise Anders , Little Miss Philippines PIDC 2018, renders a declamation- "the Promise Land", a meaningful and an inspirational message about preserving our environment, is the highlight of the program and also her final walk donning her crown to Alexis Noelle Manego , the new Little Miss Philippines PIDC 2019.
The Judges who hold the most difficult task of the day are Melanie Lazaro, Chona Stinson, Annabelle Migalbin, Judith Gonzales and Emma Andrada. Gene Pardo-Elamparo , the over-all Pageant Chair, read the acknowledgements and closing remarks.
