In the end, Maritess Mamaclay, a nurse and a native of Batac, Ilocos Norte, was proclaimed this years Grand champion, who delivered her winning piece entitled "The Greatest Performance of My Life", with so much passion and control that only a seasoned singer could muster, swept the judges votes in her favor over 13 other finalists who also showed their vocal prowess to the delight of the audiences and judges alike. Maritess Mamaclay received the following prizes of One Thousand Dollars, Round Trip Air Tickets to Manila and a Trophy.
Also worth mentioning are Glenn Mark Remorin, who delivered his rendition of the song "Time of My Life" and Anthony Sampayan with his song "Magsimula Ka" who were adjudged second and third place respectively in the competition. Fourth place is Roger Subing Subing with his song "Kahit Isang Saglit", and the Fifth place is Jonathan de Rosas with his song -"Ngayon at Kailan Man". The other finalists who performed that night are Alex Wiel "What Kind of Fool I Am", Jessmar Altaraz - "When A Man Loves A Woman", Edwin Mercado "I Dont Wanna Miss A thing", Caryl Ruste "I Who Have Nothing", Bryan Balena "Muling Buksan Ang Puso", Gerome Baldiviano "I Believe I Can Fly", Maryjane Ariate "Paano", Herwin Maniflor "Delilah", William Cuderes "Gaya Ng Dati". All Winners and the finalists received a trophy and Plaque of Appreciation. Alex Weil was proclaimed a winner for the People's Choice Award in social media.
In between programs of the event, special intermission numbers were given by last years Grand Winner of BK 2015 Mr. Ronie de Castro and APM Teen stars namely Rania Elseboi, Catherine Aquino, Amira Matias, Cherry P. Baul, Raymund Ruben & Rithmo Band. A special number by Mr. Jeff Almendras with BK finalists with the song "Maghintay Ka Lamang" a tribute to OFWs.
Bagong Kampeon 2016 was conceived and produced by APMs founder and Chairman, Mr. Jeff Almendras who along with the organizations set of officers and members, Olan Arawag APM President, Enrico Abad Voice Coach, Andreo Nogoy Talent Director, Leo Boticario Executive Officer, JR Lava- Executive Officer, Dra. Elenita Salicubay Adviser, Lanie Marasigan Executive Officer, Henry Endradora Host, and Production staff/supports are Roel Tio, Elma Tio, Bhe Espana, Ruel Espana, Omar Gabrito, Jonathan Buendia, Lito Amarante, Mark Rodejo, Nomer Cortez, Juninho Lucinario, Noriel Ballarta, Isagani Buen, Keith, APM family, Parents & Friends, gave the audiences that night another good quality production and staging. The Organizations commitment to their selfless mission of providing pure entertainment to our fellow OFWs are worthy of praises and recognition.
The sponsors of the event were Philippine Airlines, Friendi, L & M Catering, Al-Marai. Other organizations and backers who contributed their support to the recently concluded event are Mr. Roland Blanco of TFC, Ferns Baul Photography, Ritmo Band, LifeTV, Bomba Radio, Salicubay Family, Tio Family, and Elseboi Family.
To the winners, their night culminates with cheers and congratulatory remarks. And for the other finalists who underwent a series of auditions and rigorous rehearsals as well, believed that being chosen alone as one of this years finalists in this prestigious competition is a feat in itself and that they considered themselves winners already for having made it that far. And they all leave home with gratitude and humbleness for the exposure and experience that they gained in this event. And for the rest of the spectators and supporters, rest assured that APM will be sure to delight you again with the same fervor of excitement for next years edition of BAGONG KAMPEON 2017.
