Good weather ushered the placing of granite base and pedestal blocks for the Rizal statue
The public is invited to the parade leading to the unveiling. Come celebrate Philippine Heritage Month with us. Come show pride in your Filipino Heritage. Community organizations may bring their banners. Venue is Boxgrove Bypass and Rizal Avenue in East Markham. Parade starts at 9:30 a.m. More details to follow.
Blessings from the sky as April showers turn into a downpour as soon as the statue was set atop its pedestal. Retired Councillor Alex Chiu who fathered and fundraised the Rizal Monument project, and Alicia Chiu who conceived the Luneta Gardens plan and chaired the Rizal project Committee perform their own blessings on their favorite baby, with local Canadian spirits
