"Our beneficiary is GK or "Gawad Kalinga", translated in English which means to "give care". GK is a Philippine-based movement that aims to end poverty by first restoring the dignity of the poor. It employs an integrated and holistic approach to empowerment with values, formation and leadership development at its core. Established in 2003, the Foundation currently works with over 2,000 communities and has been recognized as the 2006 Ramon Magsaysay Awardee and 2012 Skoll Awardee for Social Entrepreneurship.

PIDC throughout the years has helped build 33 houses in various regions in the Philippines through GK. The last PIDC fundraising effort was in November 2014 when Typhoon Yolanda hit the Leyte region hard. Through PIDC, over $130,000.00 was raised from various generous individuals and organizations.

This year's project is to help and support GK's "Community Building Program" which empowers the GK communities to be self-reliant and sustainable by building up its people towards unity and self-governance" .
