The Filipino-Australian Community Association, Eastern Sydney (FACAES) concluded their AGM and Election yesterday at South Juniors in Maroubra, Eastern Sydney.
The newly elected officers to serve for 2 years from 2019-2021 are as follows:
President: Mr. Roque Molavin
Vice President: Mr. Badge Baduria
Secretary: Ms. Remie Masian
Treasurer: Ms. Evangeline Nissani
Auditor: Mr. Menandro Gile
PRO: Mr. Efren Padagas
Business Managers: 1) Ms. Lani Manansala, 2) Ms. Mary Gonzales, 3) Ms. Vicky Gallueges
Consultant/Adviser: Mr. Francis (Boy) de los Santos
The three names nominated to contest the top job in FACAES are Mrs. Precy Santos, Mr. Boy de los Santos and Mr. Roque Molavin. Upon hearing his name, Boy quickly declined to accept the nomination and requested his name be removed from the nominees. He explained that he is currently tied up with another organization and is no longer available to assume a similar role in FACAES.
After the votes were counted, Mr. Roque Molavin emerged victorious winning unanimously from all the officers who voted. In his short acceptance statement, Roque admitted he got a ton of things to do in order to match and/or surpass what the previous leadership had achieved/accomplished.
Apparently, Roque knew his new role is not a “walk in the park’ type of job as he transitions himself from being a Vice President for 6 years and assuming a new and challenging role as FACAES President. Nevertheless, he profoundly thanked Precy for her 10 years of dedicated leadership as FACAES President and vowed to continue her advocacy: to serve and help the migrant Filipino community in the Eastern Suburbs who need help and support on local community issues/concerns including the services being offered by the Philippine Consulate in Sydney. On the other hand, Precy was gracious in accepting her election loss as she congratulated and wished Mr. Molavin ‘good luck’ on his new role as FACAES President until 2021.
Precy also expressed her gratitude and appreciation to all FACAES officers who helped and supported her leadership in thick and thin for the past 10 years. As FACAES Past President, she promised to continue supporting FACAES on their projects, events and activities organized annually. Lastly, Precy requested Roque to continue what she started – make the annual Filipino Barrio Fiesta in Randwick bigger and better for the next 2 years which Roque quickly acknowledged the challenge with gusto.
