Knights of Rizal - Canada Region Partners with Talakayan Radyo Filipino in Ontario

True to its purposeful mission and meaningful mandate to propagate, promote, practice and foster the ideals, teachings and life of Dr. Jose P. Rizal, the foremost hero of the Philippines, the Knights of Rizal- Canada Region has recently entered into a collaborative media partnership with Talakayan Radyo Filipino, a public service broadcast program in the Geater Toronto Area. The Knights of Rizal in Toronto was organized in 1991.

The Talakayan Radyo Filipino, popularly known as "ang tinig ng Filipino sa Toronto" and operated by the Toronto Syndicated Network for the past 15 1/2 years since June 2003. Its public service programmming includes information, commentaries and discussions of current news, issues and developments in the Filipino Canadian community and around the world . Talakayan Radyo is regularly and conveniently conducting its broadcast program every Saturday at 10:00 am through the facilities of MCBN TV and Pinoy Radio. For 2019, in a mutual understanding, the Knights of Rizal organization will have a joint one - hour segment to present a significant topic on the life of Dr. Jose P. Rizal.

The broadcast arrangement is for the KOR to have a schedule once a month on a scheduled Saturday. The Knights will be responsible for inviting a resource speaker- guest for a live & real-time discussion on a specific subject, a series of on air lecturettes about Dr. Jose Rizal.
Order of the Knights of Rizal - Canada Region, Commanders – 2018
Internationally, the Order of the Knights of Rizal is"the sole order of knighthood in the Philippines" and is "a civic, patriotic, cultural, non-partisan, non-sectarian and non- profit organization". It was established by Col. Antonio Torres with 8 other Filipinos on December 30, 1911 .The legislative charter of the Order was granted under Republic Act 646 on June 14, 1951 to honor and uphold the ideals of Philippine national hero José Rizal. Based in Manila, Philippines,the KOR Order has chapters in 5 international regions in Canada, USA, Europe, Australia, New Zealand & Oceania.
The Knights of Rizal-Canada Region Council-2018- 2020, is composed of Sirs Joe Damasco, Mario Alpuerto , Placido Mineque,Felix De Luna, Feberio Hangdaan,Jerome Peralta,Dean Garcia, Manny Yanga, Edgar De Leon, and Jojo Taduran. The KOR operates in 3 major areas in Canada - Central, Eastern, and Western and in Ontario has active chapters in Brampton, Dimasalang, Don Valley, Earl Bales, Etobicoke, Mississauga, Scarborough, and Toronto, with 3 auxiliary/counterpart ladies organizations namely: Filipino Aspirations of Rizal , Kababaihang Rizalista, and Ladies of the Knights of Rizal; as well, a Rizal Youth organization known as KAPARIZ . The current advisers include : Sirs George Poblete, Lapulapu Cana, Jimmy Marasigan , and Ed Prillo, all former KOR Canada Region commanders .

The Talakayan Radyo Filipino broadcast staff includes Jess Cabrias, producer; May Cabrias, administrative coordinator; Karen Tan, co-anchor ;Bobby Achacon, technical coordinator, Nelson Galvez, event coordinator; Joe Damasco, roving reporter; Karen Pascual -Binaday, lifestyle reporter, and Tony A. San Juan, political commentator. Sirs J. Cabrias, N. Galvez, B. Achacon and J. Damasco are proud members of KOR-Canada Region.
Motto: Non Omnis Moriar ( "I shall not wholly die")
Over a 12 month period, the main topics will revolve around the biographical life and times of the beloved national hero including his early life, education, travels, teachings, writings, social & political life and martyrdom. Members of the public including the officers and members of the KOR are encouraged to listen and view the presentation and discussion by accessing MCBN TV or WWW. Pinoy Radio.com/Talakayan Radyo Filipino on real time and the broadcast is archived for late viewing on You Tube. With this trailblazing and unique collaboration, both the Knights of Rizal -Canada Region and the Talakayan Radyo Filipino hope to meet the challenge and prospects of a progressive and productive educational and informative endeavour on Rizalism in this part of the world.( Tony A.
