Legal eagles from a top Makati law firm swooped into Sydney late May, capping their partners’ meeting with a cruise dinner for a ringside view of Vivid.

Claire Manuel, Mrs Encarnacion, Tess Tan, Rosalind Antolin and Maricor Castillo ham it up during the Vivid Sydney Cruise.

About 30 partners of law firm SyCip, Salazar, Hernandez and Gatmaitan, their families and their friends filled up the Clearview Glass Boat for the three-hour sail around Sydney Harbour for a relaxing after-business get-together.

Consultant Counsel Nelson Antolin said the law firm’s partners (owners) hold two meetings each year, one locally and one overseas, “to get to know each other’s families and to take it easy for a few days.”

There seemed much to celebrate for the hundred-plus visitors – children passing recent Philippine government exams, remembering their first meeting in Sydney in 1997, welcoming the new law firm owners.

InterContinental, where most of the group stayed, seemed to burst at the seams with the Filipino guests, a testimony to Pinoy presence in the global scene.

Sydney spread out the welcome mat – Vivid, the city’s annual festival of light, put on a spectacular display 24 May-15 June, keeping visitors and locals enthralled with plenty of photo opportunities.

Shops, tourist attractions, and restaurants seemed to enjoy brisk business as the Filipino guests searched for the appropriate souvenir, the place to see, and the Aussie cuisine to try.
