Purposefully committed to its established mission and mandate, theCouncil of Filipino Canadian Professionals of Ontario (CFCPO), will conduct a free Professional Career Networking Session onFebruary 1, 2014, Saturday, 12:30-3:00 p.m.at theScarborough Centre for Healthy Communities (SCHC), 2660 Eglinton Avenue East( near Brimley Road), Scarborough, Toronto,Ontario. Expected to attend and join in arekababayannewcomer immigrants who are internationally educated professionals.
Aptly, the event's theme :"Meryendahan at Ugnayan sa Komunidad",aims to provide solid opportunity for participants and guests learn and develop proven career search strategies as well as build professional networks through the process of fellowship and direct engagements. It is hoped that CFCPO members will offer meaningful leadership in assisting attendees, especially newcomer immigrants, to meet and have a one-on-one conversation with invited practicing and experienced Filipino Canadian professionals.
CFCPO, organized on May 4, 2013, is composed of certified or registered Ontario professionals in various disciplines. The current officers and members are : Dr. Ben Pangilinan(MD), Armela Marano(RSSW), Elena Aguilar( BSEd), Lily Avancena (CGA), Jesusa Besa( RPh), Prof. Roland Coloma(PhD), Joel Cuevas(MCSE), Lailanie Cuevas(SSW), Anna Maramba(Advertising Specialist), Jaira Marano(RN), Jesse Panem(OCT), Dr.Elmer Panganiban(MD), Juliet Perez( CMA), Nestor Perez(CMA),Tony A. San Juan(OCT), Lorna Tabulao(RSSW) and CFCPO Supporter Dr.Silvino Decena (MD).
TheCouncilenvisions to be a determined vehicle and forum to promote, build and enhance the professional capacities of internationally- educated individuals, especially Filipino Canadians, to participate and integrate productively into the highly competitive labour environment. Specifically,it aims to engage client-participants on services and projects that will offer opportunities and challenging activities such as career assessment & referral, mentoring & coaching, career information & advice, strategic networking and other relevant resources.
