Nine Proud Pinoys Are Running for Councillor Seats in the Ontario Civic Elections

In Ontario, members of the Filipino Canadian communities are agog and delighted to learn that several kababayans are gearing up for the 2018 civic elections.
A total of 9 Filipino Canadians are seeking for City Council elective posts in the coming October 22nd municipal race. Of the nine, 2 are in Toronto, two in Mississauga, 2 in Markham, one in Brampton, and 2 in Sarnia, Ontario. Among the official candidates, 3 are women and six are men. They include the following:
City of Toronto

Paulina Corpuz ..........Ward 20 : Scarborough Southwest ( Eglinton Ave, E, Vic. Park Ave. E., Markham Rd. & Lake Ontario N.)
City of Markham

Marlene Mogado..........Ward 5: 19th Ave., Markham Rd. H-way 407 E. & York-Durham Line.
City of Mississauga

This time, as in the 2014 elections, the same number of 14 candidates are running for 9 City Council seats, including five positions for School Trustees. Many Ontario Filipino residents and voters are greatly hopeful that these "lucky 9" Council candidates will make a strong showing as well as solid inroads to the political landscape in the province.( Tony A.
