Bata2batapreneur Holds Kids Christmas Market in Toronto

True to its vision to "build the next generation of empowered entrepreneurs with a heart" and of helping promote and develop entrepreneurial skills among children in the Filipino Canadian community and other communities, the Bata to Batapreneur organization held a Children's Christmas Market event on December 1, 2018 at the North York Central Library, North York Civic Centre, Toronto, Canada.

The successful event was filled with children and parent - focused holiday activities. Among the highlights of the occasion were : live music playing, Christmas carols singing, lantern displays, selling of handcrafted items and having fun with Santa Claus . Exciting performances, as well, were presented by young artists from the JDL School of Performing Artists and other up-and- coming talents in the community.

b2Bpreneur ,meaning child to child entrepreneur, is a non-profit organization established "based on the belief that parents and the community have a shared responsibility in raising financially and socially responsible children.  With a focus in promoting entrepreneurial mindset among children, b2Bpreneur "offers workshops and business fairs that help develop financial literacy, social awareness and practical life skills". The Association was founded  by two social entrepreneurs Janet Lim and Christine Pagao-Santos, both visionary Moms, in February, 2018.

Specifically, b2Bpreneur "aims to transform children in each community to become children entrepreneurs". The Association's signature project, "Children Business Fair" , is an initiative that affords "children, ages 6 to 18 years old, an opportunity to sell their own products and services and experience what it's like to be entrepreneurs for a day." As well, the project provides the "participants a competitive edge at school and in their future careers". Moreover, the fair "offers the community a chance to witness ingenious creations by budding entrepreneurs and to support them in their path to success."

The "bata2batapreneur" Program was launched officially under the auspices of the Philippine Consulate General -Toronto  on April 27, 2018 and a basic business workshop was conducted on May 12, 2018 at the Northwood Community Centre, in Toronto. The Program's first children's business fair  was held also on July 7, 2018 followed by information booths as well on August 4-5 at the "Flavours of the Philippine Festival" in Scarborough and at the "PIDC Mabuhay Philippines Festival" on August 25-26 at Nathan Phillips Square, City Hall, Toronto.
