It was definitely a blessed day, one could not forget. As the morning sun shines through the green fields, after the heavy downpour the night before, the pearly dewdrops started to melt away and the wet grass became dry, then it was time for the members (Marilou and Dian) who came early in the park and reserve a spot to start organising the tables and chairs ready for the joint Christmas party.
The party was organised by the Visayan Association of Australia Inc under the auspices of APCO Inc joined with Fil-Oz Liverpool and Praise Family Apostolate.
APCO Inc. along with members of Fil-Oz Liverpool, Visayan Association (VAA) and Praise Family Apostolate celebrated the end of 2018 with Christmas in the Park. The event was held on 15th December at Black Muscat Park, Homestead Avenue in Chipping Norton.
There was a surprising start, the clouds gave way to reveal the beautiful sunshine that shone through out the events scheduled for the day. Apart from us believers, no one else came fearing the bad weather will persist on to the day. As everybody arrived from both organisations, preparations were in place to decorate and provide food for the festive occasion.
Various degree of merriments with jokes and past thoughts of the year were told and enjoyed by everyone. The Christmas Carols provided by APCO PRO Richard Ford, who along with the President of Visayan Association and Junior Vice-President of APCO Jhun Salazar prompted others to join in and make the day the more jovial and mesmerising. Everyone sings joyfully every line and give the celebration its true meaning as being one whole big happy family.
We celebrate Christmas to remember and pay homage to the day God came to earth as a little baby, named Jesus, the “Emmanuel”, that is “God with us”, and who will one day give up his life on the cross to die for our sins, so that being without sin He took the wrath of God that was meant for us, and by the blood of Jesus spilt on the Cross we were reconciled with the Father and received the gift of salvation, an event which we celebrate during Easter.
Meanwhile, the presence of Santa Claus (Ron Storey) bearing gifts added to the glamour and fascination of the children (both young and old) who have been accustomed to getting a present or two from families, relatives and friends at this time of year. Big thanks to Mr and Mrs Moises and Lucy Millena who also gave everyone a present during the day.
With the festivities over, the President of APCO, Cora Paras gave thanks to the team who stood by her and being supportive not only to herself but for each other. She wished everyone a Merry Christmas and a joyous New Year, adding APCO will be back bigger and better in the New Year.
We all arrived safely at home fully grateful for the blessing of good weather, delicious foods, delightful gathering to name a few, and soon after two hours, the thunder and lightning struck and produced a hail storm, with hail being bigger than a golf ball. WOW – it was truly a Wonder Of Wonders!
