PALAWAN STATE UNIVERSITY SINGERS PERFORM IN THE NETHERLANDS







06 November 2015 - The Palawan State University (PSU) Singers held its first concert in the Netherlands, in cooperation with the United Filipino Dutch Association (UFDA) in Hoofddorp, on September 04 at Pier K in Hoofddorp.

Philippine Ambassador to the Netherlands Jaime Victor B. Ledda graced the concert along with the officers and staff of the Embassy in a show of support.


In his opening remarks, Ambassador Ledda welcomed and thanked all the people who came to watch the performance of PSU despite the wet and breezy weather. He also thanked and acknowledged all the sponsors and host families for the generosity and warm hospitality given to the PSU Singers.




BALLET PHILIPPINES THRILLS AN APPRECIATIVE AUDIENCE IN CHONGQING


06 November 2015 - Ballet Philippines (BP) gave a rousing performance in Chongqing in the iconic Guo Tai Arts Center on the night of October 26.


Chongqing government officials, led by Mr. Long Zhou, Deputy Director-General of the Chongqing Foreign Affairs Office (FAO) and Mr. Kuang You Zhi, Vice Chairman of the Chongqing Peoples Congress, attended the cocktail reception held before the performance. Also in attendance were the Consuls General of Japan and Italy, other members of the consular corps, officials, faculty and students of the four major universities in Chongqing, businessmen, media people and members of the Filipino community who work in Chongqing as professionals.

In his response, Mr. Long Zhou, Deputy Director General of the Chongqing Foreign Affairs Office, expressed his gratefulness to Undersecretary Del Rosarios presence in Chongqing despite her very busy schedule as Chair of the APEC Senior Officials Meetings. He also acknowledged the 40 years of the establishment of diplomatic relations as a milestone, and expressed appreciation for the gift, referring to the BP performance. He hoped for greater friendship between the Philippines and China.

After the cocktail reception, the guests filled the 677-seat theater. The audience was thrilled, overwhelmed and overall impressed with the performance of BP, enthusiastically applauding after every dance number. By the time of the last dance, Tambol at Padyak, the audience had fully warmed up to BP that they were clapping and stomping their feet all around. Shouts of Bravo! could be heard repeatedly through the applause




KUDYAPI CHILDRENS CHOIR OF BARCELONA
HOLDS CONCERT IN MADRID




08 September 2015 - The Kudyapi Childrens Choir of Barcelona serenaded the Filipino community in Madrid yesterday, in a 45 minute concert at the Parroquia de Nuestra Seora del Espino, home of the Filipino chaplaincy in Madrid. The choir is composed of thirty-one children from five to 14 years of age.

The Kudyapi Childrens Choir impressed their audience with their rendition of Filipino folksongs such as Bahay Kubo, Si Pilemon, Pobreng Alindahaw, and songs in other languages. Their finale song Im Yours, which was accompanied by the banduria received a hearty applause from the audience.

The choir was formed in 2004 to familiarize Filipino children born and raised Spain, with Filipino values and culture through music. The choir is managed by Centro Filipinos Sister Paulita Astillero as adviser, Mr. Nats Sisma as director, and Mr. Arnel German as musical director.



The concert was organized by the Philippine Embassy in Madrid in coordination with Grupo Kudyapi, Centro Filipino for Returning Migrants and Parroquia de Nuestra Seora del Espino, headed by Father Rosendo Perez and Father Remigio Domino.

The beneficiary of the concert is the Centro Filipino for Returning Migrants which manages the Centro Filipino-Tuluyan San Benito in Dasmarias, Cavite.
