FILIPINO HERITAGE COUNCIL OF CANADA ELECTS NEW SET OF EXECUTIVE OFFICERS

The Filipino Heritage Council of Canada( FHCC), in a general meeting on November 28, 2021, at the Filipino Centre Toronto in Scarborough, Ontario elected its new sets of Board of Directors and Executive Officers. Under the newly ratified 2021 Constitution and Bylaws, the eleven directors and officers will serve for 2 years, from 2021 to 2023.
The new Executive Board of Directors is composed of Joseph Redoblado-President, Michele Serrano- Executive Vice President, Garry Tanuan-Vice President for Special Projects, Tony A. San Juan- Vice President for Communications & Public Relations, Suzy Llanera- Executive Secretary, Lorelei Redoblado-Assistant Secretary, Monina Serrano-Treasurer, Gema Rapelo- Assistant Treasurer, Rose Apilado-Auditor, and Willie Reodica & Cielito Drapeza-Directors. Solicitor- Barrister Tony Villarin who acted as election supervisor, was designated as the Council's legal consultant.
The new President, Joseph Redoblado, expressed his thanks for "giving him the trust and confidence" of leading the Filipino heritage-focused organization in Ontario. He also encouraged his governance team for "greater cooperation and understanding" with the hope of pursuing productively the established mission and goals of the Filipino Heritage Council characterized with individual faith and fervor.
With a purposeful direction, the Council is poised to bring new initiatives in community engagement focusing on promoting and celebrating Filipino heritage in rightful partnership and collaboration with counterpart organizations across Canada.
To start with, FHCC is into presenting a joint Christmas virtual celebration with the Filipino Heritage Society of Montreal( FHSM) on December 29, 2021, Wednesday at 8:00 PM. FHCC plans to reach out to other Filipino heritage-promoting associations in preparation for a bigger event in June 2022.
FHCC, formed in April 2018, is a registered non-profit, volunteer-run organization based in Ontario. The main goal of the Council is to lead and contribute to the propagation, protection, preservation, and celebration of Filipino heritage and culture in Canada as well as realizing the spirit of multiculturalism in Canada. Specifically, it aims to develop and offer programs and projects to the Filipino- Canadian community and the general public through collaborative efforts and engagement initiatives with a firm focus on promoting "the historic value of the Filipinos".
