Toronto, ON, May 15, 2019/PIDC/ - The Philippine Independence Day Council (PIDC), would like to extend a warm invitation to all and to attend the Salu-Salo, celebrating Filipino Heritage Month. In what has become a community tradition, over the past several years, this year marks a special occasion as it will serve as a kick-off for the first ever, nationally recognized, Filipino Heritage Month. The event will be taking place at Earl Bales Park, located next to Bathurst Street and Sheppard Avenue, with ceremonies commencing at 9am.

This event is being Chaired by PIDC’s very own, Paulina Corpuz , a community builder, who was actively involved in pushing the agenda to have the Filipino community recognized on a municipal and national level.

The community potluck picnic will be an event for everyone to enjoy and share in the day’s festivities, the array of so many traditional cuisines and exchange of camaraderie. In addition, film screenings from The Filipino Channel (TFC) will also be shown celebrating Philippine history and present day life.

PIDC would like to graciously express its sincerest gratitude to CIBC, for showing its appreciation towards the Filipino community, by acting as the lead sponsor of the picnic.  We would also like to acknowledge The Filipino Channel for their ongoing support in our goal in celebrating the best of what the Philippines has to offer.

For more information about the picnic, please visit: www.pidctoronto.com or call: (416) 924-3569
