2nd Fiesta Ball in Scarborough- Canada – Where Playing is Fun

Filipino Basketball League held their 2nd Fiesta Ball last July 13-14 2019 at the Toronto Pan AM Sports Centre in Scarborough, Ontario. A total of 39 teams has participated in 9 divisions for youth and adult basketball teams. Elimination games started on Saturday with championship games culminating on Sunday.
UNDFTD led by young sensation Popoy Clarin won the 2010 division against Crossover Basketball. Ethan Sarsadias and Mark Carbonel led on the hand Crossover Basketball against 24 MM for the 2009 division. 24 MM of Wally Maranan dominated the 2007 division with win against Bayan. CKATT led by Basti Villena exact revenge against Crossover Basketball for the 2006 division while the Yusay twins of Sheen and Shaun led Crossover Basketball to upset the older Toronto Elite of Jesse Pacetes at the 2004 division.
The young guns of North York coached by ex PBA Mark Victoria defeated One Ten in the 2003 division. Bayan of Coach Rod Garcia had an easy sailing at the Collegiate division against PhilCan. The Open division was won by perennial winner Fil Act against Team Crossover Canada who used this tournament as part of their preparation for the 2020 NBTC High School Championships in the Philippines. Lastly and not to be outdone is the CKATT 40 and above men’s team who upset the heavily favourite PMR All Stars.
Crossover Basketball and CKATT both won two championships but the former emerged as the Grand Champion club after having more finalist finish at the tournament. Last year’s edition was won by CKATT. Leslie Ruiz Crossover Basketball newly installed president was proud and happy to receive the glass trophy from FBL Canada commissioner Wallie Landicho.
FBL Canada is a not for profit basketball organization that promotes youth development through the sports of basketball. It organizes Fiesta Ball in the Summer and Turkey Ball in the Fall with the support of local business in GTA and surrounding regions.
