LBC HOLDS BADMINTON TOURNAMENT

The brutal weather, strong winds and arduous travel hassles did not deter over 100 badminton enthusiasts from attending the 3rd LBC Fun Badminton tournament held April 15th, 2018.
The multi-courts of the Epic Sports Arena in Scarborough saw a large throng of skilled and excited badminton players from within the GTA who braved the freezing rain and slippery roads just to be able to participate in the annual fun-filled sports activity initiated by LBC Mundial Express, Inc., the Philippines premiere air and sea cargo forwarding company.
Raffy Policarpio, LBC’s Country Head, along with Willie Manalang and Billy Salonga, the event’s very competent tournament coordinators, declared the games open right after the opening prayers led by Ms. Renee Bautista, LBC’s tournament liaison officer. Also in attendance were representatives of various tournament sponsors, such as Max’s Fried Chicken, AC TriStar (Canadian distributor of the famous Salad Master kitchenware), i-Transfer, the money-remittance payout partner of LBC.
The following were declared gold winners in their respective events:
Men’s Doubles, Class A: John Vicoy & Mark Capada
Men’s Doubles, Class B: Wesley Manalang & Mark Stevens
Men’s Doubles, Class C: Adrian Ramos & Valentin Gellvegan
Mixed Doubles, Class A: Carol de la Cerna & Jeff Pingol
Women’s Doubles, Class A: Jazz Manalang & Carol de la Cerna
Masters category: Dennis Ornedo & Edwin Lucas
Gold and Silver winners were awarded medals and LBC gift certificates. Gold winners were likewise given token cash prizes. All participants received t-shirts, meal and raffle stubs, but most importantly, the event brought together badminton lovers from the GTA for a day of intense competition and unrivalled hours of fun, snow and freezing rain notwithstanding.
