The Australian Capital Territory captained by Phonz May (in lieu of Luke Revet) came second with total accumulated points of 700. “This is the first time that we almost made it to the top by losing only 3 points on the last day”. Said an ecstatic Ariel Pattugalan, the president of Filcom Sports of ACT and the host of this years series.

Individual over-all champion was Nor Hugo from Victoria followed by Hem Chandra from ACT as runner up. These winners received monumental trophies and cash prizes of P3,000 and P1,000 respectively, for their exceptional efforts.

This year’s tournament major sponsors were: Philippine Department of Tourism, Sydney office under the auspices of Norjamin delos Reyes, Tourism Attache for Australia & New Zealand and Megaworld International care of Liz Angeles, Country Manager for Australia.

The Fil-Aussie Interstate Friendship golf cup which is now composed of almost 100 golfers coming from all over states and territories in Australia has been held in Manila annually for the past fourteen (14) years. The venues were carefully selected four (4) championship, top rated and privately owned golf courses. For the first time the group played Mt Malarayat (Makulot & Lobo course), Summit Point, the Riviera (Langer course) and Canlubang Golf & Country club – North course. Six (6) golfers from Wellington, New Zealand headed by Archie Milo also participated after their stent at the 71st PAL Interclub in Bacolod City.

All Fil-Aussie golfers together with their friends are invited to join again next year’s tournament which is the silver jubilee and represent their very own state or territory.
