STICHTING KAPITBAHAYAN in the Netherlands welcoming the elusive Spring with great fervour

 Angel Axinto
Spijkenisse, The Netherlands
March 21, 2018

March 17 was a bitterly cold day. It seems like winter is making a comeback and with more intensity, thanks to the piercing Siberian wind. Yet that doesn’t deter the party guests at all.

Guests were coming from as far south as Tilburg and up north as Amsterdam to welcome the much awaited Spring that seems to be elusive. Although Astronomically Spring begins on March 1, officially it starts on March 21. It is then the time when the winter slowly breaks and days get a bit warmer allowing the flowers to ‘spring out’. That’s how it got it’s name. But not this year…right now we are in the middle of march and yet we are still enduring the ice cold weather. But that doesn’t stop us at all, come hell or high water we are going to get together and have a good time!

Enthusiast Spring party goers walked into a beautifully adorned dancing hall in The Wijkcentrum de Akkers in Spijkenisse last  March 17. Since it is the Season of Lent, stuff toys like rabbits, frogs, scare crows and butterflies were either hanging or positioned strategically to amaze the guests. Huge cut-out paper eggs and Easter bunnies bedeck the walls. One can forget the freezing Saturday evening the moment they step into the party hall…all of a sudden it is Spring!!!! What a delight it brings.

In between the fast rhythm of disco hits is the Karaoke singing. During these breaks, party goers could scream their hearts out or go slow with their favorite songs. It’s bringing out the hidden talent in every guest. Almost everybody joined the Karaoke and showed their amazing singing talents. There were really some ‘WOW’ moments.

The party has given the season of Spring a litte boost last Saturday. Now let us wait and hope that the new life that symbolizes spring would come to action so soon. Trees, plants and field would become green as the daffodils and tulips would start to sproud. These are the first beautiful signs of Spring……and a sign that the cold winter is finally over.

Our most grateful thanks to all our beloved friends and dedicated guests who are always supportive to the activities of Stichting Kapitbahayan. You are the best.

Since Easter is right around the corner,  let me greet each and everyone…A HAPPY EASTER!!!!!!!!!

‘Til the next event……The traditional and very colorful Santa Cruzan this coming May 26.
