Prominent GTA FilCan Athletic Association Held Officers Induction and Winter Dance

The ever popular North York Pinoy Athletic Association - NYPAA conducted its Induction of its Executive Officers & Directors and Winter Dance on March 3, 2018,Saturdayat6:00 p.m.at St. Peter and St. Paul Banquet Hall, Scarborough, Toronto, Ontario.
Among those sworn into office for the 2018 - 2019 term were: Brendalete Agoncillo - President, Sharonne Salanguit - Vice-President, Judith Cortez & Elizabeth Pascual - Secretaries, Arlene Pacia-Perez - Treasurer, Roger Tarca & Marc Victoria - Sport Commissioners, Victor Montero - Youth Sports Development Officer, Alvin Garsin, Rhey Ellorino, Renato Columbano & Irvin Gahite - Team Coaches, Judith Cortez - Webmaster, Tim Sinclair - Adviser, and Bob San Juan, Edgar Sotto, Vilma Tahsin & Roger Tarca - members of the Board of Directors.
Philippine Consul General - Toronto Rosalita Prospero graced the event and inducted the new sets of officers, directors and sports coaches. The Filipino diplomat assured the Consulate's "constant support in all of NYPAA's worthy endeavours ". Ontario Premier Kathleen Wynne sent her congratulatory message of supporting initiatives "that help people on the path to a lifetime of better physical health".
Likewise, Toronto Mayor John Tory extended his warm greetings on behalf of the City Council. In her inaugural address, the new President, B. D. Agoncillo is looking ahead that "we are a team, we are family, and we are community!"
Rightfully, the community social event aims to raise funds towards sponsoring and supporting amateur basketball clinics, house league competitions and participating in various city and inter-city tournaments in Canada and the USA. North York is a member of the North American Basketball Association (NABA) since 2005 and recently is a partner of the Filipino Basketball League - FBL Canada. The NYPAA's sports commissioners are Marc Victoria and Roger Tarca.
NYPAA, formed 19 years ago as a not-for-profit organization, is composed of dedicated volunteer parents, professionals, youths and students in the Filipino Canadian community who are engaged in fostering youth development and promoting healthy individual and group competitions through its challenging sports programs and productive well-being activities.
The association has been a leading participant of different Filipino-Canadian amateur basketball championship leagues in the GTA and in the province.
