DFA RAISES ALERT LEVEL IN GAZA STRIP
13 July 2014 - In view of the growing threats to security posed by the Israel-Hamas conflict to Filipinos in the Gaza Strip, the Department of Foreign Affairs has raised Alert Level 3 (Voluntary Repatriatio
The Philippine Embassies in Cairo, Tel Aviv, and Amman are ready to assist those who wish to leave Gaza. These Embassies continue to be in close contact with Filipinos in Gaza.
Alert Level 1 (Precautionary Phase) remains raised in the West Bank and in southern and central Israel. Filipinos in these areas are advised to take the necessary precautions.
The DFA continues to closely monitor developments in the Middle East.
DFA RAISES ALERT LEVEL 2 IN KENYA
12 July 2014 - The Department of Foreign Affairs has raised Alert level 2 (Restriction Phase) in Kenya in response to the deteriorating security situation there.
Under Alert Level 2, Filipinos are advised to restrict movement and avoid unnecessary travel and crowded places.
The Restriction Phase only allows returning overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) with existing employment contracts. No new deployment of workers is allowed with the exception of workers in the United Nations agencies in Kenya.
There are an estimated 440 Filipinos in Kenya, most of whom reside in Nairobi.
Filipinos in Kenya are encouraged to contact the Philippine Embassy in Nairobi for instructions.
