SAMAHAN joined the Philippine Embassy’s celebration of International Women’s Month on 31 March 2017.
This was the very first observance of International Women’s Month organized by the Philippine Embassy in the Netherlands. The theme of the celebration was “We Make Change Work for Women: In Recognition of Women Working for the Welfare of Filipinos in the Netherlands and the Philippines“.
Congratulations and Mabuhay to the Philippine Embassy, and in particular to the Embassy’s Gender and Development Officer, Ms. Theresa Alders, for this initiative.
In his Introductory Remarks Ambassador Jaime Victor Ledda acknowledged Samahan as the oldest Dutch-Philippine and women’s organization in the Netherlands, marking the 36th year of its founding in 2017.
On the 31 March 2017 a celebration of the defeat of the 2nd attempt of the Liberal Government to introduce change to Section 18C of Racial Discrimination Act.
