ASCON and APCO participate at Volunteer Management Training

By Richard J. Ford – PRO-APCO Inc
Sydney-Australia
May 15, 2017

To assist members of APCO and ASCON in enhancing their capacity to do voluntary work and manage volunteers within their respective organisations, ASCON Chairperson and APCO Founding President, Dr Cen Amores facilitated the participation of 11 APCO and ASCON members from diverse cultural backgrounds to the free Volunteer Management Training organised by Leep NGO Inc.

The 3-part training sessions have been scheduled to be held at DOOLEYS Lidcombe Catholic Club. The first of the series, efficiently facilitated by Laura Goddard, Deputy CEO of Leep NGO Inc was held on the 1st of May. It covered: What volunteering means, The Challenges and Life Cycle of Volunteering, Frameworks for Volunteer Management, Legal Framework for Volunteering Involvement and Co-Creation of Strategies. Informative, interactive and learner-focused, the small group discussions and group tasks were thoroughly enjoyed by the participants. Everybody provided inputs and actively shared their ideas, opinions and personal experiences as community volunteers. Overall, the training was considered very beneficial as it further enhanced the participants’ knowledge and skills and inspired them to continue volunteering for their communities.

Meanwhile, the second and final series of the free Volunteer Management Training will be held again at DOOLEYS Lidcombe Catholic Club on the 26th of June and 26th of July 2017 from 9:30 – 12:30 pm. Said sessions will focus on ‘Building Effective Volunteer Program – Part 1 and 2’ respectively.
If anyone is interested to participate, you may contact Dr Cen Amores on her email: amorescen@yahoo.com.au or Laura Goddard on LauraG@leeo.ngo
