Philippine Consul General Anne Jalando-on Louis Named PASSCI 2017 Mother of the Year

Among those who participated in giving honour to Congen Anne as Mother of the Year include the Sydney Sonata Singers, Marcus Rivera, Ding Vergara who prepared and recited a special tula to Congen as a mother, PASSCI Cultural Dancers and the Seniors Modern Dancers led by Lydia Cosio There was also a live feed by Ronald Manila for SBS Radio. Jun Relunia also presented the compilation of tributes to Congen Anne from representatives of every sector of Philippine and Australian governments and the Philippine Australian community.

The Philippine Consul General tour of duty will expire on 30th June 2017 after six years in Sydney. During her 6 years, her love, friendship and dedication to service to Filipinos and Filipino Australians is well known not only in the Philippine Australian community but also to Philippine and Australian governments. In return she has earned their love.

Quoting Fr. Ruben Elago, Coordinator of the Filipino Chaplaincy, Diocese of Parramatta “Philippine Consul General Anne Jalando-on Louis is a very engaging and personable lady with a Motherly touch with every Filipino in NSW especially in Blacktown. She listens and speaks humbly and simply with much conviction all the time. She will be greatly missed”.

In her tribute, Philippine Ambassador to Australia Minda Calaguian Cruz described Congen Anne as an outstanding leader in uniting the Filipino community in New South Wales towards achieving the higher objectives of the Philippine government and the Filipino people.

Minister for Mental Health, Women and Ageing Tanya Davies has also a kind word for the Philippine Consul General “I had the pleasure of meeting Anne on many occasions and found her to be warm, engaging and talented Filipino woman whose professionalism and capacity to make everyone feel they were an important member within our community was a highlight of her personal capabilities”.

 Federal Shadow Minister for Communications Michelle Rowland paid tribute to CG as “one of the hardest working members of the diplomatic corps. She is constantly travelling far and wide within NSW, including investing an enormous amount of time in the Blacktown Local Government area, which proudly boasts the highest proportion of Filipino Australians in the country”

Nonoy Perdon, publisher /managing editor of Bayanihan News summed up how Congen Anne dealt with the Filipino community leaders. “Congen Anne Jalando-on Louis has brought the skills and experience of her career in diplomacy among nations to the need of the community for harmony and cooperation. Among leaders and volunteers, she remains undistracted and true to her mission to be proactive in mending conflicts between leaders for everyone to cooperate and takes pride in the Filipino Bayanihan spirit for the community.”

We wish Congen Anne and family all the best in the future and thanks for being a mother to us for the past six years.
