Crossover Canada to participate again at the prestigious Chooks To Go NBTC National High School Basketball Championships in the Philippines

National Basketball Training Center (NBTC) has once again invited Team Crossover Canada to participate at their National High School Basketball Championships at the Mall of Asia Arena in the Philippines on March 18-24, 2019. Regional Champions and qualifiers along with invited other international teams are expected to slugged it out at this prestigious tournament last won by National University of Manila.



Crossover Canada will be joined by annual returnees Fil AM Sports USA of Mr. Bong Ulep, Camp David New Zealand of David Perez and Aussie Pinoy. The international teams have grown from the original two (Crossover Canada and Trail International School of Thailand) to six with Italy and Vancouver Canada expected to join the fray.

Team Crossover Canada is hoping to improve its best 5th place finish with coach Rod Garcia at the helm this time and a solid core returning. Denzel Faraon, Jason Diaz, Tyler Garcia and Mark Espinase armed with their NBTC experience and IHSBC Championship win last year will try to bring the most coveted trophy to the winter land. Coach Mike Cruz continues to head the delegation with FBL Canada commissioner Wallie Landicho and director Dome Florido.

 

NBTC has been a great venue to showcase our Fil Canadian talents. It has resulted to seven recruits to universities and colleges in the Philippines in the last 3 years with James Canlas (San Beda) and Matthew Daves (Ateneo) as most notable. It has also built friendship, camaraderie between community and provided a clear pathway to basketball potentials wanting to continue play at a high level in the Philippines.

Families, friends and supporters can help through fund raising events organized for the team. Calendared events include Zumba Party on Jan. 26 at Lincoln Alexander Public School in Ajax form 3 PM to 5 PM, Poker Afternoon at Bikini in Manila on January 27, Groove is in the Heart Valentines Party on February 16 and scheduled Niagara Falls Casino Trips on January 19, February 9 and March 2.
