Birthdays, commemorative events and even a horse race give Association of Golden Australian Pilipinos Inc (AGAPI) members the opportunity to look deep into their wardrobes for the appropriate attire, enabling them to go out in style and embrace the social scene with ease.
AGAPI president Dorothy del Villar said, “Our seniors like dressing up and what better time to do this than at social events?”
Last month, for instance, AGAPI joined fellow seniors group, the Sydney Australian Filipino Seniors Inc (SAFSI, celebrate its 30
th anniversary in spectacular fashion at the Blacktown Workers Club 14 Oct, also election day for the State seat of Blacktown.
Then AGAPI ran a costume parade, with members donning the native attire of some countries to mark United Nations Day 28 Oct. (UN Day is celebrated on 24 Oct. worldwide.)
Meanwhile AGAPI’s Vicky Tinkler invited friends to birthday lunch at Blacktown Workers Club, timing it with the Melbourne Cup and the fashion interest it generates.
