The state of New South Wales (NSW) in Australia won the 22nd Fil-Aussie Interstate Friendship golf tournament held for four days in Manila on March 7-11 2016. The Fil-oz Sydney social golf club members captained by Arnold Villamayor contributed 793 points to lead by mere 5 points against the closest rival, the state of Victoria. NSW was awarded the monumental trophy plus P10,000 cash prize for their exceptional team efforts. “Am so happy that our team succeeded in getting back the prestigious monumental trophy after last year’s Queensland debacle” said Arnold Villamayor, the captain for NSW team. The state of Victoria captained by Willy de Joya after overshadowing Western Australia by 25 points on the last day was the sure runner up. “Am so happy with our team’s great efforts, especially on the last day, although not enough to topple NSW team” said team captain Willy de Joya.

Individual over-all champion was Adrian Engo of Melbourne with accumulated points of 149. This was followed by Hem Chandra of Canberra with total accumulated points of 147. These winners received monumental trophies and cash prizes of P3,000 and P1,000 respectively, for their fantastic effort.

The Melbourne Pinoy Golfers headed by Buddy Espineda representing the state of Victoria hosted this year’s tournament and used stableford scoring system which was upgraded from the system 36 that was used last year. Vito Timpano from Melbourne took charge of the software and computer system that were efficiently used during the four-day golf tournament.
