PHL OMBUDSMAN MEETS WITH FILIPINO COMMUNITY IN LONDON

In his welcome remarks, Philippine Ambassador to the Court of St. James Enrique A. Manalo stated that when President Aquino took office in 2010, he laid out an ambitious reform agenda anchored on the platform of good governance and summarized as “kung walang corrupt, walang mahirap.” He said that the Ombudsman’s role is to advance this campaign of good government

Focusing on the topic, “Nurturing the Gains of Good Governance and Anti-Corruption toward Nation Building and People Empowerment,” the Ombudsman discussed gains, challenges and plans of the Office of the Ombudsman under her stewardship, including her strategies to strengthen the prime institution tasked to promote good governance and integrity in public service.

An open forum followed, wherein she candidly shared her views to the audience on combating corruption in the Philippines and its impact on nation-building and people empowerment.

The forum provided valuable insights to the Filipino community in London on the work of the Office of the Ombudsman in combating graft and corruption in the Philippines.
