Filipinos Abroad Unite to Help Philippine COVID-19 Crisis

USA: The Call to Action and Unity to help with the Philippine COVID Crisis is a growing success. Thank you to the national organizations who are leading the charge: FAVU (Filipino American Voice United) FPACC (Federation of Philippine American Chambers of Commerce) and PCCI (Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry).
The speakers in the past zoom meeting last April 21 included: Philippine Ambassador to the US Jose Manuel Romualdez, Senator Manny Pacquiao, Commissioner Herman Martir from the President’s Advisory Commission on Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders, Nina Mangio, Honorary Consul of Liberia and Council Chair of the PCCI (Philippine Chamber of Commerce & Industry), Juanita Nimfa Gamez, Chairman of FAVU, and Marie Cunning, President of FPACC.
During the April 28, Sydney AEST time ZOOM, Ambassador Jose Romualdez sent his messages of empowerment through Deputy Chief of Mission Renata Villa and Senator Manny Pacquiao was represented by Atty Raji Mendoza. Utah Attorney General Sean Reyes gave a very inspiring call for unity for Filipinos to work together, whatever their political views.
On May 6, Hon Deputy Speaker (Philippine House of Representatives) Bernadette Herrera spoke with Cory Quirino Chair of VACC and FAVU Live Aid Chair, alongside Dr Gap Legaspi (Philippine General Hospital, Director).
Thank you Jerry Perez De Tagle (FAVU President & FPACC VP) for initiating and coordinating this call to action and unity for the community of 5 million Filipino Americans and for the 18 million Global Filipino diaspora of immigrants and Expat workers. FAVU-USA initiated the April 2, 2021 letters that appealed to President Biden for the release of vaccines. This May 5, FAVU, with its Coordinator, Mike Cohen is leading a Second Wave of Letters-Appeals. In collaboration with leaders in the US and the Philippines is the appeal to the US government for the release of medical supplies and relief equipment. These are now stored in the Philippines, Cebu, Clark, Subic, for disaster preparedness, as part of the US HADR, Humanitarian Assistance Disaster Relief.
