CELINE CELEBRATES HER 18TH BIRTHDAY IN ONTARIO

By Ann Margaret Grey
Vaughan-Ontario-Canada
January 14, 2018

Vaughan-December 29-2017: As famously said by the  infamous Olaf, Some people are worth melting for.” Celine Grey, Miss Philippines PIDC 2016 had celebrated her 18th birthday at the Venetian Banquet Hall in Vaughan, Ontario, just recently on December 29th 2017. Despite the blizzard that hit Toronto and the GTA that evening, guests of Celine’s ventured the icy roads and heavy snow to share their joy in celebrating this milestone in her life.

Briefly, from Celine and her family, a special thank you to all her winter wonderful guests who attended her debut celebration, and a very special thank you to the following who came from far corners of the world; her grandparents the Hon.Judge Teodoro Bay and the timeless Mrs.Jeanette Bay, as well as her charming aunt Ms. Rachel Grey, and her dashing uncle Mr. George Grey and his beautiful wife Dr. Clarizza Grey, and their three lovely children Chelsea, Lindsay and Colin.

Now, for those of you who are unfamiliar with a Filipino debut celebration, it roots from the English tradition of a debutante’s ball, which is a coming of age celebration for young girls to be formally presented as women of marrying age into high society. However throughout time, modernization has altered this centuries old tradition and has simply become an awaited celebration for the transition of young girls into womanhood. It also comes along with the opportunity to wear glamorous ball gowns and to dance the night away with her family, friends, relatives and of course her many admirers.

Celine’s debut celebration is the epitome of the modernizing Filipino traditions. Themed in a silver white winter with a dash of blue, the venue of the night was as an Instagram blogger’s dream. Every corner of the hall was glitz’d and glam’d and ready for a photo opportunity. The lights were dim but blue with just the right amount of light that gives a winter wonderland atmosphere. And just like what would be an entrance into an enchanted snow covered forest, the entry was lined with two straight rows of birch trees decorated in string lights. It was magical, and all of this magic could be of none other than Mehriya and Parvina of Dahlia Décor.

Even if Celine’s dress may be a sight to behold, Celine wearing the dress elevates the experience of seeing to a whole new level. Although, just when you begin to believe you’ve seen some magic, Celine along with a few local Filipino singers — Glenn Montera, Aaron Hernandez and Emilio Zarris, gave chills as they each performed an outstanding duet with the debutante. (see duet Emilio / Celine in YouTube)

And just like the end of any fairytale story, it must end in song and dance, Celine accompanied by Ryan Dizon and her cottilion court--Samantha Alfaro and Jerome Balancio, Angel Cruz and Ivan Canseco, Erin Tablizo and Aaron Hernandez, Samatha Bautista and Joshua Hernandez,  Kassandra O'Brien and Fredric Maano, Jessica Hoang and Gabrielle Pangilinan, ended the night’s program with a modern take on a traditional waltz to Shawn Mendez’s song called Memory choreographed  by Ms Daniela Pozzo.

To immortalize this event, Christian Ryan and Exun Garcia photographed every special moment, while Goody Cambay, Joe Sangco and Antonio Tecson, with their video mastery brilliantly captured the highlights of the evening.

And of course what is a party without music and an exuberant host? A great thank you to DJ Chris of The Digital Entertainment Group for the music and MC Chris Zoleta for keeping up a festive spirit throughout the night.

Celine and her family also extends their gratitude to QP designs for the invitations, to Circle Events and Photography for the photobooth services and Stephen Navales for styling Celine's hair.

All in all, Celine's debut celebration was a fantastic way to end the year. Cheers to Celine and to a great end to 2017. Til' next time.
