March 22, 2012

Aussie Pinoy Golf Club of Perth representing Western Australia headed by Nestor Jongko narrowly won the 18th Fil-Aussie Interstate Friendship Golf cup held in Manila on February 27 to March 2, 2012. This is the 2nd successive win for the westerners who outlasted the Sydneysiders and Melbourneans by a mere 9 points. “This is a great win for us considering that we lack one player in the team of six golfers per state” said a very surprised and ecstatic Nestor Jongko.

Fil-Oz Golf Club of Sydney representing NSW was declared runner up by count back, in this now considered the oldest, well participated golf tournament by Filipino-Australians and their friends in Manila today. There were 64 golfers coming from Victoria, NSW, Queensland, Western Australia and the ACT who took part in this year’s series hosted by the FilCom Sports Club of ACT headed by Ariel Pattugalan and assisted by Kow Chen. For the first time invitations were extended to golfers from other countries and there were four (4) from California (USA) and two (2) from Middle East, who enjoyed the golf tournament and promised to bring more of their friends next year.
