DFA nag-ulat sa DOLE tungkol sa kakulangan ng manggagawa sa mga kanlurang lalawigan sa Canada

Iniulat ni Assistant Secretary Maria Andrelita S. Austria ng Kagawaran ng Ugnayang Panlabas (DFA) kay Kalihim Silvestre H. Bello III ng Kagawaran ng Paggawa at Empleo (DOLE) ang napipintong kakulangan sa manggagawa sa industriya ng transportasyon sa mga kanlurang lalawigan ng Canada.

Sa ulat ng Philippine Consulate General sa Vancouver, ayon sa report ng Asia Pacific Gateway Skills Table (APGST), sinabi niya na ang napipintong kakulangan sa manggagawa sa industriya ng transportasyon sa mga kanlurang lalawigan ng Canada ay sa dahilang ang mga manggagawa ay nag-retiro, umalis sa nasabing lalawigan, o iniwan ang industriya na may kinalaman sa pandaigdigang komersiyo.  Ang Kanlurang Canada ay isang rehiyon na kinabibilangan ng apat na probinsiya ng Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, at Saskatchewan.

Ang APGST ay isang non-profit, regional partnership sa pagitan ng paggawa, negosyo, at institusyon ng edukasyon/pagsasanay. Ang Asia Pacific Gateway ang tumitiyak na may sapat na taong may angkop na kakayahan at kasanayan upang tugunan ang pangangailangan.

Ayon sa APGST, ang industriya ng transportasyon sa kanlurang probinsiya ay may inaasahang 36,000 manggagawa, kung saan mahigit sa kalahati ng mga ito ay bagong manggagawa na sumailalim sa bagong pagsasanay o mga bagong pasok na manggagawa. Inaasahan din na madaragdagan ang manggagawa sa industriya ng transportasyon na manggagaling sa ibang industriya.

Nakasaad din sa ulat na ang British Columbia (B.C.) ay inaasahang umasa sa mga banyagang manggagawa upang tugunan ang pagtaas ng kanilang pangangailangan sa manggagawa kung saan ipinapalagay na 27 porsiyento ng manggagawa ang nawala. Ang British Columbia ang tanging probinsiya na inaasahang may matatag na mapagkukuhanan ng manggagawa mula sa ibang probinsiya.

Samantalang ang Alberta ay tatanggap ng mga manggagawang hindi magmumula sa probinsiya, ang pagpasok ng manggagawa ay hindi kasing tatag o hindi magiging pantay ang distribusyon sa mga sektor ng industriya ng pangangalakal.

Inaasahan na ang pagtaas ng bilang sa sektor ng air pilots, flight engineers, at flying instructors ay magmumula sa mga banyagang manggagawa, sa 56 porsiye.
