Knights of Rizal Canada Assembly ends in High Note

By Mogi Mogado
Richmond Hill-Canada

Patriotism and glitter were hallmarks at the 5th Canada Region Assembly of the Knights of Rizal held at Sheraton Centre in Richmond Hill on October 9 to 11, 2015.

It featured a keynote address from Supreme Commander Sir Jeremias Singson from the Philippines, and the presence of Sir Peter Pluckebaum representing Europe and overseas chapters, and Sir Marlon Tagorda from Manila KOR HQ.

Over a hundred knights, accompanied by their ladies and some with family members, came from chapters in Texas, New Jersey, Florida, Ohio, Missouri, Winnipeg, Windsor, Montreal, and Toronto vicinities, among others.

The plenary sessions sought to strengthen and refocus the organization's efforts in influencing socio-political reforms in modern society today through Rizal's example and teachings.

On the lighter side, the group took time off on a boat cruise-dinner and dance on Lake Ontario, then had a formal Commander's Ball, with Toronto ConGen Rosalita Prospero as honored guest.

Most fulfilling for the attendees were the positive progress reports from areas, and the giving of awards and promotions for deserving and hard-working knights and ladies.

Concluding the assembly with high spirits, it was announced next year's assembly will be held in New Jersey.
