They worked it, they strutted it, they walked it.
They personified ‘bongga’ – that Filipino term which articulates style, extravagance, attitude.
On 27 August, after weeks of intensive, many times ‘dramatic’ preparation, the Association of Golden Australian Pinoys Inc (AGAPI) turned the ballroom of Blacktown Workers Club into a burst of colour, marking 12 years of existence with ‘bongga’.
Members paraded sparkling gowns, sequinned tops, and glittering accessories to conform with the anniversary theme, ‘Live Life’.
Amidst the din of song, dance, and chatter, AGAPI also crowned ‘Little Princess of AGAPI 2016’ Rhianne Alanis Thelma Danao Joson and ‘AGAPI Ginang 2016’ Lilia Peterson with runners-up Jesusa Agcaoili and Sophia Young.
AGAPI president Dorothy del Villar said the fund-raising event ultimately benefits the members as they go about their various activities.
On hand to celebrate with AGAPI members were Phl Con-Gen Anne Jalandoon-Louis, Ed Husic, MP Federal Member for Chifley, Edmond Atalla, MP State Member for Mt Druitt and main sponsors Barry and Margaret Steward of Guardian Funerals
