Durham Crossover under the auspices of the North American Basketball Association represented Canada at the SM NBTC National High School Championships in the Philippines.
Most of the players caught the eye of the local university and college coaches in the Philippines during the recent basketball tournament and expressed interest on recruiting them most especially the Filipino Canadian James Canlas who has wowed the crowd with his exemplary basketball skill and talent.
Coach Eric Altamirano of National University even compared him to the likes of two times UAAP awardee and now plays for NBA D League Ray Ray Parks Jr. He also congratulated the delegation for the job well done and looks forward to another participation next year.
The San Beda College Team Manager was equally impressed with the immersed talent of the team and prompted him to seek help from DCB President Mike Cruz to organize a basketball tryout here in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
The basketball tryout was attended by 30 Fil Canadian aspirants with Brandon Ramirez getting the most interest from Jude Roque. He also took this opportunity to personally visit and reiterate interest in recruiting James Canlas and Evyn Santiago to play for San Beda College.
Congratulations to all these who have received formal offer letter from National University and San Beda College. Coach Mike Cruz also looks forward to Canada's participation in next year's SM NBTC National High School Championship. (St. Jamestown News Service)*********
