FIL-COM DAY IN MALTA

By Veronica Ugates
Malta
May 4, 2016

A much-awaited event dawned bright and clear for the Filipino Community in Malta. The first of May was not only Labor Day but Fil-com Day as well and everybody were excited anticipating the fun and games that they expect to enjoy.

The affair started at 9:00 A. M. on this beautiful and sunny day, the weather cooperating gracefully. Participants converged on the St. Antnin Family Fun Part in Marsascala bringing food to share that everyone will surely appreciate for who can be jaded in the midst of so much delicious Filipino food. One can be nostalgic recalling  the many parties and fiestas and the abundant food that goes with them in the Philippines. Fil-Com provided water and drinks.

As everyone shared with everybody else there was also an exchange of recipes and talk of family and home especially for those who returned and those who are planning to go to the Philippines for their holiday. Just being able to swap stories somehow alleviate feelings of loneliness.

The games consist of 4 teams; red, white, yellow and blue. The blue team was led by Florisa de Jesus, Fil-Com secretary. They were the winners of the day’s events garnering most of the prizes in group games. Next is the white team led by Acting President Ruzzel Faure. Third is the yellow team led by Noemi Carnici, Asst. Secretary of Fil-Com. And fourth, the red team led by Sally Miranda, Sports Coordinator of Fil-com.
