Pista sa Nayon: Alay sa Kalayaan is a cultural feast of food, arts and crafts, games and literary talents galore about the Philippines that caters for the whole multicultural family. Many Filipino traditional icons will be demonstrated and on display on the day for free so that more people can enjoy and have a wonderful glimpse of the mother country.
Various community organisations are invited to showcase regional culture, traditional practices and games. An essay writing contest among elementary and high school students will also be held.
According to APCO new president, Pet Storey, the radical change of this kind of celebration from the lavish and classy Freedom Ball and Gala Dinner to an affordable and very accessible Pista sa Nayon is in line with APCO’s conscious preference for more socially significant and inclusive activities that builds communities and promotes multiculturalism.
