Miss Philippines-Australia title was won by the Visayan Association for the second time in a row.
Of course, for Miss Rica Alido Sey all her dedication, hard work and belief in what she is doing has also helped her win the title as it did for Miss Glyssa Perez in 2014. The support of
Gabe Amor to groom Miss Rica and
Chit Serra, her Manager and the former Manager of Glyssa Perez also helped in her winning the title, with the Make-up being provided by
Samantha Von-Dutch who also contributed to Miss Rica winning the title.
The Visayan Association of Australia who put her forward as their candidate for the Beauty Contest, are very proud, as is the President Jhun Salazar and all the Board and the Members to know that as her main sponsor they helped Miss Rica achieve her dream of winning the title and a chance to serve as an Ambassador for the Filipino-Australian Community, but also as a proud winner for the Visayan Association of Australia.
Special thanks of course, goes to her parents Alex and Lita Sey, who gave up so much to help their daughter through and her relatives and friends, who stuck by her to the end.
The Visayan Association also competed in the Dance Competition scoring 3
rd place for the Visayan Dance Group against tough opposition from Fil-Oz Liverpool, with 2
nd place and the VSD combined with PCC dancers won 1
st place.
The results were: Miss Philippines Australia 2015 was
Rica Sey (6) also winning Best in Evening Gown, Miss Photogenic and Best in Swimwear; Miss Philippines Australia 2015 Runner-up was
Jerelyn Tabuan (5), who also was Charity Princess 2015 and Best in Filipiniana. Charity Queen Australia 2015 was awarded to
Susana Downes (8), who also won Miss Popularity, with
Gabby Escubio (7)
winning the title of Miss Friendship.
Altogether it was a very hot day but an enjoyable one with plenty of Filipino Fare. The roaring crowd filled the night supporting their candidates but no one beat the Visayan member’s ecstatic mood with drum and megaphone to top up the already loud squeal from supporters. Everyone went home some feeling ecstatic, exhausted and a sigh of relief while others are hopeful to win the crown next year. Such was a night of beauty and contrast.
