The Ateneo MBA Ayayay Group of the 70’s Gives Perri and Monina a Lively, Fun-filled Despedida!

By Oni Mayo, Quezon City
August 16, 2015

Yes, the dynamic couple of Perri and Monina Cebedo just completed their successful circuit of seminars in different places. (By now, they are in their home in Northern California) Just before they left for home, the Ayayays had a despedida dinner with them at Crisostomo in Eastwood.

Traffic was really bad that day (due to a flash rain earlier). The Ayayays who braved traffic to come were: Noni, Celia, Temay, Sonny, Ruben, Tito, Oni and Tony. Cora as usual came late. The menu plate was good. The de leche, lengua, tuna belly, paella and mussel appetizer served were picked clean. Tony Sotelo and Tito Legasto came from Makati and were very hungry and thirsty.

Perri who had a foot in cast was nevertheless in high spirits. His supportive wife Monina described the labor of love that the two of them have embarked on for some years now. Apparently, Perri's study system, Maximizing Academic Performance, is ever popular with participants. Recalling Perri's photos of smiling faces in his seminars, we have to agree that it's clearly all worth it for them. When asked why they do it, Monina said that they have been empty nesters for 25 years now, and what's there to do? It's their way of giving back.

Between bottles of San Mig lights, the boys gave Cora a hard time. Once again, they badgered her regarding her recent love affair (which may have misfired for the moment). But what's good about Cora is her feisty resiliency
The talk shifted to suggestions that maybe Cora should now consider a more manageable alternative like a boy toy.  A younger man would definitely have better manly capabilities than Seniors anyway. To this thought, Ruben objected. His battlecry: what you can do, I can still do better! Due to his passion for this argumentative issue, it was easy to misconstrue his slip of the tongue when he cited his resistance to senior ills.  He did mention "angioplasty of the prostate" which everyone jumped on as an idea that could be more effective than Cialis if you think about it. Imagine a stent procedure to enlarge strategic arteries.

It was practically closing time (10PM) when the group disbanded. The experience of being with the Ayayays once again was as good as ever. This brought about the prospective Ayayay excursion that Cora is supposed to organize for the group. Tony had a more attainable suggestion when he suggested having regular lunches for those who can make it.
Till next time, amigos y amigas. The first  photo above is courtesy of Tito.  All other  photo collages are from the perripatetic photographer.  -Onimayo
