PHL EMBASSY IN OSLO JOINS PHL INDEPENDENCE DAY CELEBRATION OF FILIPINO COMMUNITY IN DENMARK
10 June 2015 – The Philippine Embassy in Oslo joined FIL-COM DENMARK and the rest of the Filipino community in their celebration of the 117th Anniversary of the Declaration of Philippine Independence held at the Skottegårdsskolen, Saltværksvej, Kastrup in Denmark on June 06. Philippine Minister and Consul General Charmaine Rowena C. Aviquivil represented the Embassy during the event.
The event kicked off with a parade around the school grounds, after which the Filipino community organizations made their way to the auditorium for the singing of the Philippine and Danish national anthems, followed by the invocation and blessing for the Filipino community by Fr. Andrew, the new parish priest of Saint Anne Kirke Catholic Church in Copenhagen.
Consul General Aviquivil read the Independence Day messages of President Benigno S. Aquino III and Philippine Ambassador to Denmark Bayani S. Mercado, which dwelt on the theme
“Kalayaan 2015: Tagumpay sa Pagbabagong Nasimulan, Abot-Kamay na ng Bayan.” In her remarks, Consul General Aviquivil called on the thousands of Filipinos in Denmark to be the govenrment’s partner in pursuing reforms that would be the key for them to attain the progress and prosperity that all Filipinos are aspiring for.
Philippine Honorary Consul General in Copenhagen Poul Krogh extolled the positive qualities and contributions to Danish society of Filipinos in Denmark in his speech. Mr. Eijner Lyduch, a councilor from the Tårnby Kommune married to a Filipina, also had good words to say of the Filipino community in his area.
The FIL-COM DENMARK celebration was capped by entertainment from the Dynamic Band, featuring Filipino singers, and dancing.
PHL INDEPENDENCE DAY CELEBRATION IN PRAGUE FEATURES UP CONCERT CHORUS, FILIPINO VIOLINIST
10 June 2015 - The Philippine Embassy in Prague and the Filipino community in the Czech Republic celebrates the 117th anniversary of the declaration of Philippine Independence today, June 10.
Philippine Ambassador to the Czech Republic Victoriano M. Lecaros is the host of the celebration at the Rais Hall, National House of Vinohrady, which features the University of the Philippines Concert Chorus (UPCC) and violinist Joaquin “Chino” Gutierrez.
Ambassador Lecaros and his wife Melissa, are alumni members of UPCC.
Established in 1962, the UPCC is the official choir of the premier university of the Philippines. Known nationally and globally as “
Korus,” this group of select students and alumni from different colleges of the state university performs various mixtures of music ranging from classical to contemporary.
Under the vision of its current artistic director and conductor, Prof. Janet Sabas-Aracama, the UP Concert Chorus presented CHOReoCapella (CHORus CHOReographed A CAPELLA), where they performed various arrangements of classical, spiritual, pop and Original Pilipino Music (OPM) classics as part of their 2015 World Tour.
Chino has participated in master classes in the Philippines, Germany, Italy and China. He has taken lessons and personal coaching from noted violinists such Zachar Bron, Alexander Tomescu, Murizio Sciaretta, Gottfried Schneider, Oscar Yatco, and Gilopez Kabayao.
