Philippine Cultural Society for Families and Friends Inc. Commemorates 117TH Philippine Independence Day in Melbourne

The Philippine Cultural Society for Families and Friends Inc. (PCSFFI), one of the elderly groups in Melbourne , commemorated the 117th Philippines Independence Day on 7 June , 2015 at the Main Hall, Activity Center, Raleigh Road, Maribyrnong. Victoria, Australia.
A mass was held officiated by Reverend Fr. Lito Asis followed by a sumptuous lunch brought by most of the members. The guests enjoyed the regional cuisine.
Guests and members were graciously welcomed by Mrs Henrietta “Gigs” Soledad, the PCSFFI outgoing president. Mrs Aniceta L. Esmaquel, the society’s founder, led the song
“Damdamin” the theme song of the group.
Established in the early ‘80s, PCSFFI is one of the oldest senior citizens groups in Melbourne, Victoria.
Guests performers were Michelle de la Pena, Renato de la Pena and Thor Cortez who rendered two Filipino contemporary songs.
The finale number was a fashion show featuring attractive Filipiniana attire headed by Mrs Elsie Spitteri, FASCOVI president and Mrs Evelyn Alcantara. Live music for the program was provided by Mrs Lerma Vasquez and energetically emceed by Mrs Eleanor Naldoza.
The program was followed by the election officers. Ms Tonette Wilkes is elected as the new president of the PCSFFI.
