Pinoy Wood Pushers slugged it out at the FilCan Chess Club Blitz Tournament

FilCan Chess Club held its Chess Blitz Tournament last October 13, 2018 at Clark Ridge Institute along Wilson Ave. A total of 30 chess players from the GTA region participated on this tournament which was organized to help promote the sports of chess and provide avenue for players to test their mettle against other players.

Class A division was ruled by Dante Zuniga through a triple tie break with Ryan Franco and Manuel Balboa who settled for 2nd and 3rd place respectively. At the Class B division, Mauricio Demillo took the top spot with Edgar Mijares and Epifanio Manalo placing 2nd and 3rd .

The tournament was organized by FilCan Chess Club officers, President Wilbur Borgonio, VP Manuel Balboa, Sec Virgilio Cabico, Treasurer Pedro Mendoza and Auditor Noel Lubay with support from Crossover Sports Canada, FV Foods, Hon, Maria Augemeri, Vic Jorge, Merlin Atayde, Virgilio Cabico and Edgar Mijares.

President Bong Borgonio thanks all the participants and congratulated all winners. He also thanked the supporters and mentions that more tournament will be organized in the future.
