Two Filipino- Canadians win Condo board poll in Toronto

By Willie Jose
Toronto-Canada
December 11, 2015

Two Filipino- Canadians  have been elected to the board of directors of  the YCC 397 Corp. in Toronto--it’s a Condo  housing complex  composed of 180 homeowners.

These  directors are Cesar dela Cruz, a registered professional accountant and Tristan Tolentino, a registered nurse.

These newly elected directors will now join the rest of  the complex’s  board of directors namely  Zandro Flores, president, Willie Jose, Jesse de Leon, and Edmund  Niedzialek.

Filipino-Canadians who are also  members of the board—Willie Jose, Jesse de Leon and Zandro Flores-- are humbled by the privilege entrusted to them by the homeowners in  running the affairs of this multi-million Condo complex.

In a statement, Flores said that the “ road to change is full of challenges and uncertainty. As we face the year 2016, it is evident that the collaborative and collective efforts of homeowners and directors are crucial for the betterment of the complex.”

“ Also, the board will be leveraging the talents, skills and inputs of residents; this is the essence of community involvement. So watch out for more positive challenging changes in 2016!!!”, Flores said.

Dela Cruz said that the “YCC#397 is on "financial recovery mode". As your "financial watchdog" in the board, I will see to it that the recovery efforts will be sustained and will recommend measures to attain financial stability.

I will be focusing on the budget preparation process to ensure that there will be no useless allocation of funds. Aside from the Operating Fund budget, I will ensure that there will be Reserve Fund budget that conforms with the Reserve Fund Study to minimize surprises on major repair expenses and replacement cost.  Also, whenever necessary, I will initiate proven financial management techniques to safeguard the wasteful use of corporate funds.”

Stuart  Highstead, the property manager of  Glendale Properties Inc., has welcomed the winning directors, saying  “on behalf of all owners of  YCC 397, we welcome  you to the Board of Directors .”

Glendale Properties Inc., is the company that manages the YCC 397 Corp. Condo complex.

In a  recent newsletter, the board said that “Most  homeowners we’ve talked to have commended  the board’s performance.

We thank you all for your positive responses regarding our performance. With your support and encouragement, we have been successful in bringing about significant changes in the complex.

We are also convinced that for the past months, we have done our best to protect the interests of the homeowners and everything we have done is above- board.

We also believe that we have been diligently doing our job as directors of our complex and in carrying out our tasks, we make sure that we are always guided by the directions given to us by the property manager, lawyer and independent auditor. (Willie Jose )
