The designs of her recent acrylic paintings are letters of words often unrecognizable at first glance. Appreciating the form of all letters within the English alphabet, Tiffany creates beautiful, bold and textured compositions with the words she desires to paint. During the Distillery District Show, she will unveil a series of works inspired by her beloved and late maternal grandmother, Fidela dela Victoria. Lola Lading, as she calls her, had touched so many lives within her 94 years on this earth. She remembered her as an intelligent woman who was dedicated to her faith, her family, her career as a nurse/midwife and helping the disadvantaged in the community. Villahermosa elaborates, “This body of work is to honour the life and ideals of my loving Lola, whom I admire and respect so deeply.”
Villahermosa continues her rewarding work with Arts for Children and Youth (AFCY).

AFCY, is an organization which provides unique, hands-on arts programming for children and youth from underserved communities, through inner-city schools, community centres, hospitals, and Toronto Community Housing buildings. She recently assisted a mural/mosaic project with children and youth at Trimbee Court, a Toronto Community Housing Building. The mural, with an image of the earth swirled with ribbon-like flags celebrating their culturally diverse community and multiple, star-themed mosaic panels will decorate the walls of the Trimbee Court Building. Villahermosa shares her thought that everyday was a new day of sharing and learning and provided a refreshing witness in the pride expressed through the smiles of the children.

Villahermosa’s paintings, include the words PASSION, POWER and PURPOSE as these were inspired by reflections of her own creative journey.
