Paliga ng MODA pumalo na ng isang dekada

Riyadh, Saudi Arabia: Lingid sa kaalaman ng karamihan ay ang tipikal na buhay ng mga manggagawang Pilipino na nakabase sa Al Defah Compound Kilo 9, MODA na bagama’t may kalayuan sa kung tawagin nating siyudad ay masayang nagsasama-sama at nagbabalikatan para isulong ang isang magandang samahan, dito.

Ang MODA Basketball League 2014 na kasalukuyang pinasisimunuan ni Wahid Jaafar ay pormal na nagbukas noong ika-12 ng Hunyo kasabay ng selebrasyon ng paggunita ng Araw ng Kalayaan.

Ang Moda Basketball League ay nagsimula isang dekada na ang nakalipas at mapalad kami na magpasa hanggang ngayon ay patuloy na naisasagawa bilang tugon na rin na maibsan ang lungkot na nadarama ng ating kapwa ofw’s dtto sa MODA,” saad ni Jaafar, Chairman at Commissioner ng torneyo.

Labing-isang koponong nabuo mula sa mga residente ng compound ay nagpasiklaban sa kani-kanilang magagarang uniporme at banner na binubuo ng MSD Printing Press, Torjak, Pangasinan, Finance, Xtrm 1-11, Riyadh Pharma, Engineering Eagles, War Commander, Medical Gas Plant, Blue Sharks at Food Rockers.

Sa huli, itinanghal na Best in Uniform ang Torjak, War Commander para sa ikalawang puwesto at Pangasinan sa ikatlong pwesto habang ang Best Banner ay nasungkit ng Food Rockers na sinundan ng MSD Printing Press at Blue Shark para sa pangalawa at pangatlong pwesto.

Samantala nakuha naman ng Finance ang Most Discipline award at itinanghal din na Most Pleasant si Mark Rodejo.

Dinaluhan ni Mst. Sgt. Rajah Al Maliki ang opening ceremony at ni Marlon B. Vicente bilang panauhing pandangal. Ang matagumpay, masaya at makulay na opening ay pinasimunuan ni Jon Martin Sumpay na nagbigay din ng isang awitin. Kasama rin sina Ted Durian at June June Cabanag sa nasabing programa at ang ABS-CBN TFC’s Balitang Global.

Ang MODA Basketball League 2014 ay binubuo nina Wahid Jafaar, Alvin Yousef Sabuero, Isabelo “Abdullah” Baguna, Muktader Mandangan, Johnny Layug, Danilo Garcia, Jomar Colorico, Jan Rael Parrel, Noli Saborda, Wilson Ave, Jr., Leoh Cagujas at ng FCBR (Filipino Confederation of Basketball Referees).
