The Embassy of the Philippines in The Hague warmly welcomes His Excellency Jaime Victor Badillo Ledda, Ambassador of the Philippines to the Netherlands.
Ambassador Ledda arrived in the Netherlands on 28 November 2013 with his wife, Mrs. Veredigna M. Ledda. He presented his credentials to King Willem-Alexander at the Paleis Noordeinde on 4 December 2013.
During the bilateral meeting with King Willem-Alexander, Ambassador Ledda expressed his appreciation to the King, on behalf of the Filipino nation, for the overwhelming support that the Philippines received from the Netherlands and the Dutch people in the aftermath of the disaster caused by super-typhoon Haiyan.
Ambassador Ledda thanked King Willem-Alexander for the saamhorigheidshown by the Dutch, especially during the giro 555 National Campaign on 18 November 2013.
The Ambassador comes to the Netherlands at a time when the Philippine Government will be undertaking rehabilitation efforts for the calamity-affected areas in the country. For Ambassador Ledda, this will be an opportunity for the Philippines to prove to the world the resiliency of its people in overcoming the tragic effects of super-typhoon Haiyan.
At present, despite the onslaught of the recent natural calamity, the Philippine economy continues to perform beyond expectations, through its ability to maintain its standing as the fastest-growing economy in the Southeast Asian region. The Filipino spirit of bayanihanwill allow us, as a nation, to pick-up the pieces and re-build what has been lost.
Ambassador Ledda, who is a career diplomat and a lawyer, brings with him a wealth of diplomatic and consular experience from his previous postings in Milan, Brussels, Beijing and Macau.
Aside from being Ambassador to the Netherlands, he is also the Permanent Representative of the Philippines to the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons and Governor of the Philippines to the Common Fund for Commodities which are international organizations based in The Hague and Amsterdam, respectively.
His foreign languages are French, Italian and Spanish.
