Filipino journalists’ Grand Reunion in US—why not?
By Willie Jose Emailed for posting by Jojo Taduran
Fri 19th August 2011

A few days ago, I lunched with   two veteran journalists Tony Sikat, former editor-in-chief of the Philippine Star’s Pilipino Ngayon and Jojo Taduran who used to write for the Philippine Graphic magazine; while we were having a little talk and enjoying our   cups coffee, out of the blue we came up with an idea “ Why don’t we—journalists who are in the US, Canada and in other countries-- hold a reunion or a simple get-together” next year in the US.

I thought New York would be a good place to have it because of its proximity to Canada where we are based but Mang Tony said straightforwardly “ magastos doon” So finally we agreed that the best option for the reunion’s venue would be the US West coast either LA or San Francisco not only for economic reasons but there are a good number of Pinoy journalists who have migrated and are presently working there.

(Before the end of the Nick Joaquin centennial year this month, I’d like to re-publish my article about our National Artist for Literature, Nick Joaquin. This article has been originally published in the Manila Standard. This time, however, some nostalgic photos will accompany this piece.)
