AGAPI does the rounds

By Evelyn A. Opilas
February 26, 2018

Prayers, practice, participation sent AGAPI doing the rounds in February, making it a busy period for officers and members.

The Association of Golden Australian Pilipinos Inc (AGAPI) comprises men and women working together to advance the interests of senior citizens in Western Sydney while at the same time engaging with Filipino community activities.

AGAPI joined community leaders in welcoming Ambassador Minda Calaguian-Cruz during her visit to Sydney, participated in a fund-raising activity for natural disasters affecting the Philippines under the auspices of the Philippine Community Council of NSW, and networked with the Ilocano Association of Australia during its annual general meeting and elections at Lilyfield.

AGAPI also gathered in prayer with families of departed members, among them Domingo Ramos at Oakhurst NSW.

Several members meet weekly at The Hub in Mt Druitt for dance practice, exercise and lunch.

When not in prayer, practice or participation, AGAPI officers and members care for their grandchildren, tend to their roses, orchids and vegetables, and celebrate life in general. (Photos by Evelyn A. Opilas)

My daughter Randy Raissa Lagoc-Dingus turns 55 on March 11, 2018. I have no better idea of a birthday gift than to reminisce and share an aspect in a young woman’s life that happened 25 years ago — an incident that showed innate confidence, courage, conviction. And most importantly, compassion in the doctor-to-be. Read on:...
